I raise. I call. I fold. I’M ALL IN.
Gambling (also known as betting or gaming) is the wagering of something of value (“the stakes”) on a random event with the intent of winning something else of value, where instances of strategy are discounted. Gambling thus requires three elements to be present: consideration (an amount wagered), risk (chance), and a prize.[1] The outcome of the wager is often immediate, such as a single roll of dice, a spin of a roulette wheel, or a horse crossing the finish line, but longer time frames are also common, allowing wagers on the outcome of a future sports contest or even an entire sports season.
🎲 Going “all in” in card games—especially poker—means you’re betting everything you have left in chips or money on that hand. It’s a bold move that signals one of two things:
- 💪 Confidence: You believe your hand is strong enough to win, or you want to pressure others into folding.
- 🎭 Bluff: You might be pretending to have a strong hand to scare opponents into folding.

Once you’re all in:
- You can’t bet any more during that hand.
- Other players can still bet, but you’re only eligible to win the portion of the pot you matched—called the main pot.
- If multiple players go all in with different amounts, side pots are created to handle the extra bets.
It’s high risk, high reward—and often the most dramatic moment in a game. Want to break down how it works in a specific poker variant like Texas Hold’em or Omaha
